Juice=Juice MVs Released!

Ladies and Gents, that time has come! I’ll start with Ijiwaru Shinaide Dakishimete yo.

This song is a catchy song with Juice=Juice’s usual jazzy flair. It’s got a cool tone to it and the girl’s vocals are excellent as always.

The music video’s theme is red and black. It mixes the dance shot, close up shot with pretty hanging beads around them in their member colour, and shots of the girls either sitting on a spinning chair or on a turning platform with a microphone. Every now and again the scene is mirrored to give it some visual effect different from the usual music videos.

It’s a well-done, simple Juice=Juice-styled music video. If you guys are wondering, yes, that’s Ishida Ayumi in the dance shot – she had to replace Karin due to her leg injury, otherwise the release date would have to be pushed back on the single. It’s taking a while for her leg to heal but I suppose it’s better to be safe than sorry. Although I understand why they did this, I don’t think Ayumi should have been the one to do it. I think they should have hired a dancer that’s not in H!P. Juice=Juice is still fairly new, and so establishing the members is important. Having Ayumi in there may be confusing to first-time watchers, and she’s more or less promoting Morning Musume with her presence in the music video. But I suppose they probably did this on short notice as well.

Now on to Hajimete wo Keikenchuu.

By the way the song starts out, you would expect another cool-toned jazz song, but once the first verse starts you realize you’re getting a cutesy, mid-tempo love song. It reminds me of something S/mileage would do. All the members get a fair amount of lines and it’s nice to see.

The music video is interesting, as it as more of a storyline feel to it. Although it still contains the close ups, it switches between the members all doing the same thing in their respected rooms, all coloured to match their member colours. During the chorus it shows them sitting on a leather couch singing together, and during the verses it returns to the storyline-type set up. It’s a nice change of pace for sure with all the H!P groups releasing cool/sexy/fast-paced/happy-feel-good songs with this mellow love song.

Over all both music videos are the usual lovely work from the group and both songs are good ones. So far I’m liking Ijiwaru Shinaide Dakishimete yo a bit more but I’m sure they’ll be equal in no time.

What are your thoughts on the music videos and the songs themselves? Please answer in the comment section below!

The single is set for release December 4th.
